I can still see myself reflecting on that oven’s door

One of the earliest memories of my queer childhood was a piece of fabric. I was between six or seven years old and the tiniest shorts in my wardrobe was my favorite thing to wear. I would stand in front of the oven and create little performances looking at my reflection.Walking around, dancing and playing with imagination I would wear it all the time. I remember the feeling of dislking being outside and going to the playground with other kids. I would always feel distinctly uncomfortable. The house was my playground. I would create my own fantasies and always find new ways to hide myself.
