Winter Breaths was developed during a three-month residency at TYPA in Tartu (2021–2022), exploring questions of belonging and the reconstruction of cultural identity through local history. Drawing on events such as the Great Fire of 1775 and Estonia’s Soviet past, the project examines the relationship between destruction and rebuilding in connection with contemporary questions of migration, displacement, and diversity. Excerpts from Marie Under’s Christmas Greetings 1941 are incorporated through letterpress, creating a dialogue between historical experiences of loss and the political realities of the present.
